Most small business owners will attest to the fact that the hardest part of getting any commercial endeavor going is not acquiring the start-up costs or building a dedicated team. The real difficulty lies instead in getting noticed by the targeted market. This is often the most-expensive and time-consuming aspect of small business start-up, especially when novice business owner attempt to go it alone in their online marketing and advertising efforts.

There are a large number of online resources and informational sites that school entrepreneurs in the art of self-marketing online. Few of these, however, posses the same measure of efficacy as using the skilled, strategic approach of professional SEO and internet marketing companies and resources that they possess and provide. One way to side-step the often extensive costs of hiring online marketing professionals while retaining the marketing finesse and success of the well-tailored approach that they use is by making the most of local business directory services. What Online Local Business Directory Services Are In decades past, a business directory was likely to include location and contact information as well as a few other minor details about the companies that were listed. Because of the potential for increased data storage and a more all-inclusive presentation of company information, however, online local business directory services have created an evolution in the way in which companies are both sought after and found.

Online directories can now provide more details including customer testimonials, links to company websites and company-hosted blogs. Many of these directories will include rating systems and additionally provide companies with the ability to upload videos and images that detail their products or services. Thus, an online directory is a much more comprehensive shopping resource than conventional print listings.

The Online Advantages That These Resources Provide These resources allow company owners to dramatically increase their online presence at the most minimal cost and with the least investment of energy and time. Entrepreneurs can create entire commercial profiles for their endeavors and use this same information to build links and listings in a variety of places. The most effective local business directory websites will even serve as social networking platforms for small business owners seeking to network and reach out to others within their own industries or related industries to share links, information and ideas. This allows new business owners to become rapidly connected in their fields, gaining status as both a provider and recipient of business referrals. It is also the prime location for selling services and goods to other small business owners who need them. The evolution of directories have even made the arrangement of barter agreements between linked businesses much easier to secure.

One such site, www.salesspider.com, provides entrepreneurs with instant and free access to a large and diverse community of online business owners. Start-up businesses can use this site to secure contracts, obtain leads and find both buyers and sellers among many other things. Offering a streamlined approach to matching service providers and product retailers with consumer needs, this site affords developing companies with maximum access to exceedingly profitable opportunities. Among the different resources that allow small business owners to successfully build, market and brand themselves, www.salesspider.com presents the most successfully evolved small business directory format for achieving online success. Businesses can often achieve more by using a local business directory to promote their services and wares than by spending exorbitant amounts of money in attracting broad and poorly targeted markets that exceed their ability to provide or produce.

3 Things Every Business Website Must Have

When I started my law firm a few years ago, I knew right from the start I needed a website. So I went on the internet, bought a cheap template, threw it up, and waited for the phone to ring.

And then I waited some more.

And then I waited some more.

Finally I got tired of waiting and I started looking around to find out what actually made up a good business website. I was taken aback by just how wrong my site had been set up. So I fixed it, and things got better. And I’ve been tweaking it ever since.

With this article I wanted to share some of what I’ve learned so that you can make your site better much faster than I did. All that I ask is, when you’re done, you leave a comment or question about what you read.

1. Without a Strong Call to Action, You’ve Got Nothing

The funny thing is about us humans, for all we like to talk about being individuals and thinking on our own, we actually follow the heard a lot. There are certain things that are simply just true about humans that if you understand can really help your business.

One of those things is we really like to be told what to do next. And that’s what a call to action is. Without one, you might as well not even have a website.

For example, on my site (click here to check it out), I have a couple of different options. First, if you need a DUI attorney right now, you can call the number on the site. If you prefer email, you can submit something there. And, if you want to just get to know me, simply fill out the form and you’ll be emailed a free ebook.

If you don’t have a call to action you’ve got nothing.

2. You’ve Got to Have at Least an Introduction Video

When it comes to video, it’s not that you necessarily need one to be successful. When it comes to video, including it on your website will put you above and beyond your competition.

Videos aren’t just a good way to sell something, they are a great way to make a personal connection with your audience. You can talk directly to the person on your website, answer their questions, and show them what you’re all about.

3. Content, Content, Content

This isn’t some article about search engine optimization. This article is about getting people to sign up for your services when they visit your site. And content will make that happen, even though most people will fail to read even a quarter of what you’ve got on your site.

People don’t need content to actually consume it. What content does is give people a feeling, subconsciously, that you know what you are talking about. After all, if you didn’t know what you were doing, how would you be able to provide all of that information?

When you’re building out your website you want to make as many pages as you possibly can. Break each informational topic into it’s own page and say as much as you need to on each topic.

There you have it, three things every business website needs for success. Yes, this article is based off my experience in the legal industry, but I think it would work across the board.
